At some point in our lives, we all need time to recover from a serious illness, care for a sick loved one or look after a new child. This is why we need paid leave. Families like mine need to have access to affordable time to care - without carving it out of our Social Security. There is another way to providing paid leave for all. For example, family leave insurance programs enjoy enormous success in California and New Jersey since their implementation in 2004 and 2009 respectively. <br><br>I am asking that you co-sponsor the FAMILY Act and support it by championing its passage. The FAMILY Act would provide workers up to 12 weeks of paid leave for personal serious illness, an ill child, parent or spouse and the birth or adoption of a child, among others. Replacement wages provided would go right back into the local economy. We need a plan that goes beyond only covering new parents, and one that doesn’t undermine our Social Security. The FAMILY Act is the best proposal. Please support it on behalf of my family.<br><br>Thank you,
